Tuition fee receipts is an important document that helps the embassy take a positive decision on the application. Tuition fees prove the genuineness of the application.
Passport is one of the most important components of a visa application. A valid passport is a must for visa processing. Work Experience Proof (if you have any)

A medical certificate is another mandatory document required as part of the visa application process. Usually, the embassies of the countries that accept international students will have extensive tie-ups with super-specialty hospitals (called the panel hospitals). In India, students will have to undergo medical check-ups in the same. Over the past few years, there has been a steady increase in the medical criteria requirements for both student visa and work visa applicants. The recent pandemic (COVID-19) has not helped either!. Precautionary tests for communicable and non-communicable diseases are becoming part of the visa process. The objective is to identify the infected applicants before they reach the port of entry.
Medical test criteria vary from country to country. In general, the medical test comprises the following components – medical history review, physical examination, chest X-ray, blood tests for infectious diseases, tests for communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, gonorrhea, Hansen’s disease (Leprosy), and so on.
With the current scenario, the scope of medical tests has expanded into including two more categories into the testing process.
- Quarantinable Diseases Designated by any Presidential Executive Order
- Public Health Emergency of International Concern
Under quarantinable diseases designated by any presidential executive order currently includes the following diseases – cholera, diphtheria, infectious tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, viral hemorrhagic fevers, severe acute respiratory syndromes, and influenza caused by novel or re-emergent influenza (pandemic flu).
In case of public health emergencies of international concern (PHEIC) category (under the International Health Regulations (IHR) of 2005) includes the following diseases – polio, smallpox, SARS, influenza, and other public health emergencies of international concern (like COVID-19).
Police Clearance Certificate/Police Certificate/Penal Certificate (PPC)
A police certificate is a statement that provides information regarding the criminal record of the passport holder. In case a person has a criminal record the copy of the same needs to be furnished. The police clearance certificate will be a determining factor to decide the eligibility of a person to study in his/her preferred destination.
The candidate can obtain the police clearance certificate by submitting an application at the Passport Seva Kendra. The documents required for getting a Police Clearance Certificate are the following.
- Application Receipt (online application receipt or even SMS received from Passport Office)
- Address proof (current address)
Finally, the student as part of his/her visa processing application needs to submit financial documents prepared by a chartered accountant indicating the financial soundness of the applicant and his/her parents. A six months bank account statement attested by the concerned bank manager needs to be submitted along with the application as well. It is also considered a valid proof of funds. Fixed deposit receipts are good tools for demonstrating the financial soundness of the candidate. An affidavit (by an advocate) describing the financial soundness of the student and/or her parents or spouse needs to be prepared and filed along with the application.
