What is a Credibility Interview?

The Credibility Interview introduced by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) serves as a pre-screening procedure for your UK Student Visa Approval. The purpose of a credibility interview is to ensure that only ‘genuine students’ are given a Student Visa to study in the UK. It plays an integral part in the University’s decision to issue a Confirmation of Acceptance to Study (CAS) letter and thereby grant you a Student Visa.

When will I be asked to attend one?

You may receive an invitation to attend a credibility interview if :

  • University comes across a discrepancy in your SOP or supporting documents you have provided
  • University intends to gather more information to decide on your application.
  • You have previously studied a course that corresponds to the same level as your program choice
  • You are a mature applicant resuming studies after a significant time gap or work experience

The one-on-one online interview conducted by a university representative could span 20 to 30 minutes with English as the medium of communication. Failure to attend the interview may result in your visa refusal. Hence, get yourself well-prepared before attending one.
